CanCham’s Destination Management Coordination (DMC) System  
 
1) Objective

The CanCham DMC system is available to create business opportunities in
  • Canada and North America
  • Latvia, Northern Europe and the EU
  • in other regions where CanCham members are active, currently including Central Asia, Ukraine, Belarus, India and Taiwan.
 
2) Basic Principles

We recognize that entering a new market can be costly and sometimes ineffective. Having a good partner in a target country is the key to success.

We also recognize that no-one wants to give away their expertise for free. The aim is to pay as little as possible, but maximize the result.

The (DMC) System process has been proven to work, is effective, reduces costs and risks and is used by the CanCham to develop strategic partnerships internationally.
 
3) The Process
  1. Step #1: Prepare a description of your objectives and what you want to accomplish (ie. develop imports or exports, invest, provide services, establish an office, find a strategic partner, build a plant or other building, etc.). Add a web site and provide any other descriptive literature you have. Send this information to info@cancham.lv.
  2. Step #2: Select one or more DMC candidates to consider. Review the list of CanCham DMC’s in http://cancham.lv/dmc and advise if you have any preferences. CanCham may suggest others for consideration. We may also recommend which DMCs you may want to use.
  3. The CanCham will contact the DMCs you select to determine if they can help you with your objectives based on the information you provide. We will present those that agree to work with you for your consideration.
  4. Step #3: Select one or more of the DMC’s to work with. They will prepare a short, one page report as to how your requirement can be met in their market, and what they can do to help. This will be based on their experience and will likely not include any research. The cost to you will be €100.00 (not including applicable taxes) for each report paid to a DMC. A €50.00 service charge to the CanCham will apply.
  5. Step #4: Prepare an agreement. If you wish to work with a particular DMC, it is recommended that your agreement include our standard remuneration arrangement which would apply for one month after the agreement’s effective date, after which the terms of the agreement may be renegotiated. The rates are negotiable and may be modified as agreed.
    1. Standard remuneration terms:
      1. €40.00 or $60.00 CAN or equivalent per hour unless otherwise agreed based on submitted time sheets for services provided.
      2. Compensation for direct expenses is extra at cost.
    2. Invoicing may be on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on the volume of work.
    3. A €1,000.00 retainer or down payment (or equivalent) paid by the client to the DMC before the commencement of services,
    4. A € 200.00 (or equivalent) referral fee paid by the Client to the CanCham. 
    5. Not included in the remuneration package are special arrangements made between the DMC and client for commissions, bonuses or other additional payments that may be agreed.
  6. Should additional CanCham services be required (eg. for defining scope, providing a contract, negotiating terms, etc.), a separate charge will apply.
  7. Local taxes are extra where applicable in all cases.
  8. You should agree on the scope of work with the DMC, starting with small assignments for which you will be invoiced. As long as you keep paying, the DMC will keep working for you. You can stop any time.
